Should I try farm stalker before completing "the second dream"?

Completing that mission is what's stopping me from progressing to the next planet but at this point I've not encountered the stalker once so I have non of his drops, is it worth not doing the quest until I've gotten at least one weapons? Or something I dunno what the right move is
